The Wolf King 17

Chapter 17.You're lucky I was here

****

He wouldn’t survive on his own. It was impossible for the guards to save them in a day. Any more time than that, and his body temperature would drop and he would die. No matter how big and strong he was, he wouldn’t survive.

If he did die, they would blame her. Even if it wasn't him, Trisha didn't want to see anyone else trapped with her freeze to death. She consoled herself that this was what she had to do to avoid that.

"Even in this situation... you use seduction? I'm impressed."

His voice shook from the cold, but he still managed to pick out the words she didn't want to hear.

"So, do you mind if I leave you to freeze to death?"

Kalos stared for a moment at Trisha, who, unlike him, didn’t seem to be shivering at all. She didn't look that cold, unlike him.

He seemed to be remembering something, no doubt something from when they first met. He'd seen how she'd retained her body heat even in her undergarments in that cold courtyard.

He lifted the cloak he'd wrapped around himself earlier.

"No, I want you to take off your heavy, hard armor first."

His eyes widened for a moment, but he understood immediately, and he moved his hands to start pulling off his gauntlets.

Trisha took another deep breath and steeled herself. She had to get over there. It felt like a trial, and not just any trial, but a huge trial.

She forced herself to reach over and lay her cloak on the ground. It wasn't as thick as his, but it was thick enough, and she made him lie down first. With no armor, his body was exposed to even more cold, and he was about to freeze into a block of ice.

Now she moved closer and lay down with her back to him. Kalos's thick cloak covered them both like a blanket.

"Hold me close."

She was holding on for dear life, wondering why he wasn't moving faster.

Slowly approaching and hugging Trisha from behind, Kalos was surprised by her warmth and hurried to pull her close into his arms.

He knew it would be like this. Surprise was one thing, warming up was another.

Her body sank into his wide embrace. This was what it must feel like to be hugged by a bear. She could feel with her whole body how big and hard he was. Behind her, his body shuddered once, violently. It was a natural reaction to the sudden warmth in his freezing body.

She'd noticed that the colder it was outside, the more her body would radiate heat on its own. It got warmer. That was why she was able to stay warm even in this icy place. It was a mysterious ability of hers that she discovered in the North. She never thought it would save Kalos.

Right now, he must feel like he's been freezing like ice and suddenly found himself holding a warm bag of water. That's right. She was a water bag. It was comfortable to think this way.

But no amount of brainwashing could shake the feeling of being in his arms, and her body only grew stiffer with tension as her back slowly untangled itself from Kalos' body.

An incredibly awkward and uncomfortable moment passed. All the while, she kept her eyes tightly closed and chanted 'water bag'.

Meanwhile, his breathing became more and more relaxed. His chest, which had been heaving in agony, was also calming down, which was a problem because she was doing the opposite. In any case, Kalos was gradually returning to normal.

"What did your mother feed you?"

There was something about the sound of his voice now that he was alive. Trisha curled her lip and bit down, gathering her composure.

"What kind of herbs did she feed you to make you so warm?"

There was no such thing, though she had been fed herbs to change the color of her eyes and hair. She remained silent, unable to answer. She was saving him now, but saying the wrong thing could get her killed.

"Tell me what it is. I'd like to feed it to my soldiers."

She had no answer. He seemed to think that the warmth he felt now was because her herbalist stepmother had slandered her with something, and she should let him think that. She mustn't let him know that she had elven blood, not even through her fingernails. That would be like revealing that she wasn't Flora.

No matter what he said, Trisha kept her mouth shut. It was partly because she was too shaken to speak. How could anyone talk properly when they were lying here with Kalos, their bodies pressed together under the same covers?

If she didn't say anything, he would think she was asleep.

She was tense and nervous, but the thought that the crisis had been averted made her feel a sudden rush of fatigue. It wouldn't be normal if she wasn't tired after days in a strange cave, surrounded by three giant wolves, and then having just returned from tending to their pups. Her bed was fluffy, but she was exhausted from the situation.

And on top of that, she had this huge accident. She was beyond tired. She felt like she could sleep all day. Even under these conditions.

With the final thought that it was a good thing her eyes were closing, Trisha did indeed fall asleep.

Kalos felt the tension drain from her stiff body. She must have fallen asleep. He could see how exhausted she was. She deserved it, after what she'd been through twice. Otherwise, there's no way she'd be falling asleep in his arms right now.

He should correct himself. What he said to her earlier.

"You're lucky I'm with you.”

He was lucky to be with her. He didn't know if he would have survived otherwise. He didn't expect it to be this cold. You have to have been trapped in a place like this to know. He thought he could last a few days, though. He thought the soldiers inside would save him. He was wrong.

Her body was so warm, even after all the freezing he'd been through, and she was still warm. The warmth radiated everywhere he touched, and he didn't feel cold at all. In fact, it was a pleasant warmth that lulled him to sleep.

But a chill ran down his spine at the realization that he now had another problem.

This woman had saved his life.

Hah... a sigh escaped him.

He owed his life to his enemy's daughter. Even if it took days, the soldiers would break through this place, and he would live until then. There was no doubt about that, so he couldn't help but be grateful for her help.

Now he knew what he was going to do next. His head was spinning just thinking about what she might request from him. He was alive, but he was in a dilemma.

The daughter of the enemy.

When he escaped the worst of the crisis, he had another problem.

He wondered how she could hide her evil so well without showing it. She was truly a remarkable woman. Perhaps. Maybe even more cunning than Queen Catherine.

How ironic. It was unbelievable that such a warm body could be so full of cunning.

He tried to open his eyes, but they were now equally dark. So he just closed them. He needed to rest his tired eyes for a while.

He couldn't fall asleep in his comfortable, fluffy bed. So it wasn't strange to stay awake in a place like this.

But the warmth of her body was making him tired. And whoever or whatever she was, her body was quite plump and soft, which made him feel better.

His body, unlike his jumbled thoughts, was becoming softer and softer. Unconsciously, as if chasing warmth, he pulled her closer to him. He leaned his face against her soft hair, which rested under his chin. It was so comfortable. Perfect for cuddling...................

And so the minutes ticked by in silence.

In the morning, they dug through the snow like crazy, but they were still nowhere near the cliff. Viktor and all the soldiers were burning inside.

He's alive. Never. They couldn’t think of anything else.

Viktor had dug through a snowdrift like this six months ago. But he hadn't felt so desperate then. He hadn't been this desperate. But this time, he must save His Majesty. He must.

In unison, everyone acted as if they had given their lives to save the queen.

Mmm....

I’m holding something warm in my  arms... Ah, I’m holding Harpy. I’m holding my own dog, Harpy. So warm and soft....

Kalos's eyes widened.

Harpy was long dead.

The sudden return to reality took a moment to sink in.

Where am I?

But it didn't take long to realize. It had gotten a little brighter after the darkness of the night. How long had he been sleeping....

Huh?

He was shocked by the sudden realization.

I.

slept?
